Our new red potato yield this year will be about 1/4 the usual harvest because of the late freeze this spring.

This weeks CSA included rosemary, new red potatoes, arugula, white and purple turnips, assorted radish, purple haze carrots, Chickasaw plums and baby red onions.

It is good to be different!

The wildflowers are blooming...look at this Black-Eyed-Susan. Is it triplets that didn't separate? Genetic mutation? We will be sure to save the seeds. Anyway, it is good to be different!

I'll drink to that!

Our fingers are stained purple from hours of picking ripened dewberries...what a wonderful contrast to the yellow catus flowers painted sporadically through out the landscape.

The asparagus ferns in front of the house sway back and forth in the wind, saying good bye to spring and hello summer!

Here is to the changing seasons which will bring the dewberry wine....

Plum Crazy

The native Chickasaw plums thickets are in full ripe! We use them to make wine, jelly and sauces.
The local Indians would dry the plum fruit and add to meat jerky. They are also great to eat right off the tree!! Wild life gets PLUM CRAZY after eating fermented fruit that has fallen to the ground. Yeeee-Hawww!

Lazy rainy day

The clouds rolled in this morning...it has been raining ever since! Our plants needed a fresh drink of rain water, and we needed a lazy rainy day to recharge.
